Pleass Global Limited (PGL) was founded in Fiji in 1996 by Mr. Warwick Pleass with just 3 employees and was initially in the business of selling frozen carbonated beverages and distributing beverage dispensing machines. PGL steadily grew and expanded activities into food and beverage packaging. In 1998 the company ventured into bottled water production; including water coolers.
In 2005, as part of the company's expansion in the bottled water market, suitable land was sought for the construction of a bottling factory "at source". In 2008, 420 acres of pristine lowland tropical rainforest were acquired in Namosi, Viti Levu, Fiji. This was the same land from which PGL had, until then, been extracting its source water under agreement with the previous land owner.
Of these 420 acres of land, 120 acres of pristine lowland tropical forest were allocated to the development of Kila World which now consists of an organic farm, eco-tourism adventure park and VaiWai's® natural artesian water source. In the near future, Kila World will also include a state-of-the-art factory built based on ambitious sustainability principles (see our GreenPleass campaign page for more information).
VaiWai® is a new product of PGL and is targeting the export market starting with Australia and soon extending to other countries such as New Zealand, US, China, Europe, etc.
